YouTube Link for Instagram Bio That Actually Opens the App

Set up your Instagram bio link so taps land inside the YouTube app instead of Instagram's in-app browser.

The Instagram bio link is one of the highest-traffic, lowest-effort places to send people to your YouTube channel — and also one of the worst offenders for opening links in the wrong place. Here's how to set it up properly.

Why Instagram's bio link is especially stubborn

Instagram opens almost every outbound tap — bio links, Story swipe-ups, link stickers — inside its own built-in browser rather than handing it to the phone's default browser or an installed app. That's deliberate: it keeps you inside Instagram for longer. It also means a plain YouTube link in your bio is close to guaranteed to open inside Instagram's browser, not your YouTube app.

The fix, step by step

  1. Copy the link to your channel, a specific video, or a Short.
  2. Paste it into the router at opnr.cc and generate a short link — optionally pick a custom code like opnr.cc/mychannel so it reads cleanly in a bio.
  3. Replace your current bio link with the new opnr.cc link.
  4. Tap it yourself from the Instagram app to confirm it lands in the YouTube app on your phone.

What actually happens on tap

When a follower taps the bio link, Instagram's in-app browser loads the opnr.cc router page first — this takes well under a second. That page immediately fires the correct YouTube deep link for the visitor's device. Where the OS allows a handoff from inside Instagram's browser, the YouTube app opens directly; where it doesn't, the follower still lands on a clean mobile YouTube page rather than an error.

One link covers Stories and DMs too

The same opnr.cc link works if you paste it into a Story link sticker, a pinned comment, or a DM — you don't need a separate version for each surface.
