How this YouTube ad revenue estimator works

The calculator multiplies your monthly views by your RPM (revenue per 1,000 views) and divides by 1,000 to get estimated monthly income, then projects a yearly figure. RPM already accounts for YouTube's revenue share, so unlike a raw CPM number, it reflects what actually lands in your AdSense balance.

Why RPM varies so much by niche and country

Advertisers pay more to reach viewers in high-purchasing-power markets and in commercially valuable topics like finance, software, and insurance. A finance channel with a US audience can out-earn a gaming channel with ten times the views, simply because advertisers bid higher CPMs for that audience. Hindi-language and Tier-2/3 country audiences typically see lower RPM, which is why a realistic estimate matters more than views alone.

Tips to improve your real RPM

  • Aim for longer watch time per session - YouTube can show more mid-roll ads on videos over 8 minutes.
  • Grow your share of higher-RPM audience countries where relevant to your content.
  • Enable all ad formats in YouTube Studio monetization settings, not just skippable ads.
  • Track your real RPM in YouTube Studio and re-run this calculator with that number for a more accurate forecast.
Questions

Frequently asked

RPM (Revenue per Mille) is the total estimated revenue you earn - from ads, YouTube Premium, and other sources - per 1,000 views, after YouTube has already taken its cut. It's different from CPM, which is what advertisers pay before YouTube's share.
CPM is the advertiser-facing rate per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is your actual take-home rate per 1,000 views across the whole video, after YouTube's roughly 45% cut and after averaging in videos or views with no ads at all.
It varies hugely by niche and country. Finance, business, and tech channels with a US/UK audience often see $8-$25 RPM, while entertainment, gaming, or Hindi-language content aimed at price-sensitive markets often sees $0.50-$4 RPM. This calculator lets you plug in your own real RPM from YouTube Studio for an accurate number.
Open YouTube Studio → Analytics → Revenue tab. Your actual RPM (and CPM) for any date range is shown there - use that figure here instead of a guess for the most accurate estimate.
No - it's an estimate. Real payouts depend on your niche, audience country mix, seasonality, ad blockers, video length, and how many of your views are even eligible to show ads. Use it for rough planning, not as a guaranteed figure.
